Humanoid Stereoscopic Vision System: A Systematic Redesign of the WPI Motor Eyes Mechanism

    Get PDF
In 2014, a group of Worcester Polytechnic Institute students completed a major qualifying project (MQP) on the design of a mechanical stereoscopic vision system, named WPI Motor Eyes Mechanism. In this subsequent MQP, the original Motor Eyes system was evaluated, and the sources of error were identified through static analysis and dynamic testing. These problem areas were redesigned to create an improved Humanoid Stereoscopic Vision System that better adheres to the original design constraints. Once completed, work focused on implementing image processing technology. Cameras were installed to add facial detection functionality and further increase the capabilities of the system. The final result is a robotic platform that is able to visually locate and track a moving human face

Sustainable Wastewater Treatment at La Escuela Agrícola San Francisco de Asís

    No full text
This project designed and implemented a sustainable treatment system for the wastewater at the Escuela Agrícola of the Fundación Paraguaya. Using site analysis, interviews, and water quality testing, the original state of the system was determined. From there a plan was made to repurpose an old pool into a ecological filter for the treatment of 11,000 liters of water a day, over 25% of the total wastewater the school produces. In conjunction with the pool, floating treatment wetlands were made to clean up the existing wastewater pond. Recommendations for future treatment and maintenance are included within this report
